Abdulrahman Ayman Zawawi, MLA is a graduate of King Abdulaziz University, Department of Landscape Architecture. During his undergraduate study, he won a design studio excellence and scientific achievement Award. Later, he earned his Masters of Landscape Architecture from Chatham University, with concentration on community planning and design. His master's scientific research was entitled "Post Occupancy Evaluation of Industrial Yanbu, Saudi Arabia: Residents' Perceptions After 35 Years of Operation." His research interest focuses on how community participation of all stakeholders including residents, designers, and managers prior and post site implementation can solve issues of place. In addition, translation of the user experiences into sustainable planning and design guidelines in order to enhance the creation and regeneration process of current and future communities .
Although his interests include various disciplines in the field of landscape architecture including sustainability and research methods, his passion is to bridge the gap between theory and practice of landscape architecture in Saudi Arabia. Since January 2013, Mr. Zawawi has been a staff member in the Department of Landscape Architecture in King Abdulaziz University. Currently, Abdulrahman Zawawi is in charge of the Graduate Level Studio (LA598), along with the 3rd year design studio (LA394).
Mr. Zawawi believes strongly in communication and collaboration between all stakeholders and various disciplines in order to generate proposals that would best suit current and potential users of a project.
